MORMUGAO PORT

Mormugao Port, one of the oldest Indian Ports on the west coast of India with a fine natural harbour, has been in existence for over a century.

In many ways Mormugao Port enjoys an enviable position amongst the major ports. It is the premier iron ore exporting port of India with an annual throughput of over 18 million tonnes of iron ore traffic. The Port accounts for about 50% of India’s iron ore export and ranks within the first ten leading iron ore exporting ports of the world.

With the introduction of the Konkan Railway and the conversion of the existing of South Central Railway line (metre gauge to broad guage) the Port is on the threshold of a new era of growth. Both these railway lines together will facilitate easy access to the port from any part of the country through the vast network of the broad gauge railway system. Excellent facilities, high productivity, streamlined administration and a dedicated work force, all goes towards making this port one of the most efficient on the Indian subcontinent.
